Fellow

Dr. Karan D’Souza

Karan grew up on the West Coast and completed most of his post-secondary education at UBC. He completed his undergraduate degree in behavioural neuroscience and microbiology and a Master of Management at the Sauder School of Business before pursuing medicine. After finishing medical school, he opted to stay in BC to pursue a residency in General Surgery. During his residency, he completed a Master of Public Health degree focused on health policy. He is delighted to stay at UBC to complete his Critical Care fellowship.

He hopes to pursue a career that combines his interests in trauma and acute care surgery and critical care medicine in both the clinical and academic domains. He plans to continue his research focused on resuscitation, hemorrhage control, and thrombosis. Outside of work, he has a passion for leadership and health policy that aims to change practice and transform care; he will continue to serve as the Vice-Chair of the Council of Health Economics and Policy for the Doctors of BC and find new opportunities to further this work.

During his time off, he enjoys travelling around the world, trying new restaurants and global cuisines, taking a rowdy spin class, and having a glass of wine with family and friends.
