Dr. Mypinder Sekhon

I am currently a Clinical Assistant Professor (full-time faculty) in the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia.  I am a practicing intensive care physician at Vancouver General Hospital.  The ICU at Vancouver General Hospital is a 34-bed mixed medical surgical unit that provides quaternary neurocritical care for the province of British Columbia.  In addition, I am completing my PhD in neurophysiology with my thesis targeted at investigating the pathophysiology of hypoxic ischemic brain injury after cardiac arrest. During the first few years of my career, I have been fortunate to be awarded the VCHRI mentored Clinician Scientist and Clinician Scientist Awards. I was also award the Charles Best and Frederik Banting CIHR Doctoral Award during my PhD.  Recently, I was fortunate to receive operational funding in the Spring 2020 CIHR Project scheme competition for related work pertaining to our future studies on hypoxic ischemic brain injury.
