Dr. Jason Cheng is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia and an Intensivist at Royal Columbian Hospital. He works across the General Systems Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Cardiovascular Services Intensive Care Unit (CSICU) and provides Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS) within The Fraser Health Authority. He currently serves as the resident and CCM fellow education lead at RCH.

Dr. Cheng holds a Master of Science in Quality Improvement from the University of Toronto and completed a Critical Care Ultrasound Fellowship at The University of Western Ontario. He has worked internationally in New Zealand and Australia delivering intensive care services including air retrieval, extracorporeal life support and complex heart and lung transplant services. He has completed advanced fellowships in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Intensive Care (Auckland, New Zealand) and a one-year ECMO Fellowship at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne Australia.

His clinical interests include critical ultrasound, resuscitative TEE and the delivery of ECLS. Academically, he teaches critical care ultrasound and TEE courses internationally. He is passionate about improving systems of care, applying human factors, and helping healthcare teams deliver safer, more effective critical care
