Areas of special interest and accomplishments

My approach to teaching is to provide a supportive environment to teach underlying physiologic conceptsas they apply to anesthesiology & critical care medicine. I do this through a combination of didactic andbedside teaching during clinical rotations. Because of my background in clinical epidemiology, I try toteach within the context of evidence based medicine and best practice. As a teacher, I try to fosterstudents learning by: (1) providing an open and supportive environment for them to ask questions, and (2)promote critical thinking. These goals reflect my own approach as a clinical scientist and physician toimprove my research and clinical practice on an ongoing basis.
