Dr. Bryan Wells

Dr. Bryan Wells is a general surgeon and critical care physician working at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital since 2015. He has also been working as an ‘traumatologist’ on the nascent trauma service at NRGH since 2022. Bryan was born and raised in “Tarana but made a brief foray South of the border for undergrad (University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia), and then spent a year working in New York City before returning to Toronto for medical school, which he completed in 2005. He then went on to complete his training in general surgery at the University of Toronto in 2013, with a brief interruption to complete a masters in health technology (2010).  Thereafter Bryan and his wife Megan, and two young children headed Westward, to complete a fellowship in trauma and critical care at University of Calgary in 2015. The growing family were pretty excited to continue their Westward exploration and land on Vancouver Island in August of 2015. Bryan and Meg have never looked back since (East that is). When not trying to juggle the demands of community general surgery/ICU/trauma Bryan and Megan and their four children can be found tooling around the wilds of Mt Benson and the greater Nanaimo area. Bryan is most proud of the fact that he has managed to convince his mother, and 2 brothers to also move to the island from their beloved Toronto.
