Dr. Andrei Karpov

Dr. Andrei Karpov is a Clinical Assistant Professor jointly appointed in the Departments of Critical Care Medicine and Emergency Medicine. He practices as a consultant physician in the Intensive Care Unit at Surrey Memorial Hospital and the Emergency Department at Vancouver General Hospital. He is the lead intensivist for the Medical Emergency Team at SMH and is on staff at the BC Biocontainment Treatment Centre for high threat pathogens.

Dr. Karpov had earned his MD (2013), FRCPC Emergency Medicine (2018), and FRCPC Critical Care Medicine (2020) all at UBC, graduating from his Critical Care Fellowship with an Award for Clinical Academic Excellence. He has completed further post graduate training at UBC earning an MHSc in clinical epidemiology (2017) and a diploma from Harvard Medical School in Safety, Quality, Informatics, and Leadership (2022). His clinical focus is neurocritical care and critical care electroencephalography (EEG), particularly in the post cardiac arrest population. He had pursued further EEG training at VGH as well as at the London Health Sciences Centre in London, Ontario. He currently enjoys teaching critical care EEG to adult critical care fellows at UBC.
